Zusammenfassung: | A b s t r a c t In a method for surface-treating paper, in particular paper printable by ink-jet printing, in which an aqueous solution containing at least one water-soluble salt of a bivalent metal and optionally one or several substances selected from a binder, a pigment, a surface sizing agent and/or a cationic polymer is applied to a base paper containing cellulose fibers and optionally fillers, an optical brightener, retention aids or dyes or pigments, an unsized base paper is formed from a pulp comprising cellulose as a main component, between 0 and 50% by weight, in particular 10 and 30% by weight, of CaCO 3 as a filler, and optionally an optical brightener or a retention aid, and the base paper is coated with a liquid surface treatment medium comprising between 1 and 20 kg/t paper of MgSO 4 and the paper is optionally subjected to a post-treatment step.
