Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is a guide wire which comprises: a flexible long wire main body; and a coating layer that covers the front end portion of the wire main body and is configured of a resin material. The wire main body of the guide wire is provided with a projection that protrudes along the entire outer circumference of the main body. The front end portion of the projection is in contact with the base end portion of the coating layer, and the maximum outer diameter of the projection is larger than the outer diameter of the coating layer that is in contact with the projection. The base end portion of the projection has an outer diameter tapering portion wherein the outer diameter is gradually reduced toward the base end.
