Zusammenfassung:	Abstract A door closing device 10 comprising a flexible elongate member 12 adapted 5 to be mechanically coupled to the door 14. The device 10 also includes a mass 18 connected to an end of the flexible elongate member 12 and adapted to provide a counter-weight for the door 10 whereby, in use, the force of gravity acting on the mass 18 can act to apply a closing force to the door 10 via the flexible elongate member 12. The device 10 also comprises 10 magnetic damping means 22 provided in connection with the elongate flexible member 12 whereby, in use, when the mass 18 moves magnetic forces act to slow its movement so as to reduce the velocity with which the door 14 closes.
