Zusammenfassung:	A depth determination apparatus (100) is described. The depth determination apparatus (100) includes a rotatable reel (424) for receiving a length of line (110), a free end of the line (110) being adapted to receive a weight (112), a hollow elongate leader assembly (108) through which the line (110) is played out and retracted, a measuring arrangement (423) for measuring the length of line (110) played out and/or retracted through the hollow elongate leader (108); and a drive means (322) for at least retracting the line (110) through the hollow elongate leader (108).
