Method and system for automatic selection of transmission media

The invention relates to a method for selecting transmission media in a communication infrastructure characterised in that the method includes at least the following steps: applying at least one routing rule (PBR1, PBR2, PBR3) such as to select (310) the medium over which to transmit the packet (308); if no routing rules (PBR1, PBR2, PBR3) are applicable to said packet (308), selecting (310) the medium over which to transmit said packet (308) using a routing table (309); updating said routing table (309) using a routing protocol (305, 306) and a calculation function (307) of the routing cost of each medium (301, 302, 303); applying at least one quality-of-service management rule (311) to said packet (308) by filtering (312).
