Cutting device for a mining machine

The invention relates to a cutting device for a mining machine, in particular a shearer. Said machine comprises a tool carrier, in particular a shearer drum that is rotatably mounted about a rotational axis and at least one cutting tool (1) that is fixed to the tool carrier. The cutting tool (1) comprises a tool base body (3) and a cutting insert (1) that consists of a diamond composite material, or a harder material, and is fixed in a receiving bore (6) of said body. The cutting tool is oriented on the tool carrier at an incident cutting angle (ß) of 45 - 58°, preferably 47 - 54° and especially preferably 49°. The tip (2) of the cutting insert (1) is substantially conical and the nose angle (α) is 60 - 75°.
