Method for producing a mixture of bacteriophages and the use thereof in the therapy of antibiotic-resistant staphylococci

Method for preparing a mixture of bacteriophages, with which at least two different bacteriophage strains are separately propagated, comprises: (a) growing a Staphylococcusstrain with each strain of the bacteriophage, which can lyse staphylococci, in a preculture; (b) further propagating in a main culture; (c) subsequently purifying; and (d) subsequently mixing the various strains, where the used mixture of bacteriophage contains at least two different serotypes of bacteriophages that specifically lyse the bacteria of the species Staphylococcus. Independent claims are included for: (1) a phage mixture, obtained by the above method, comprising phages that have specific activity of at least 10 8>plaque forming units per mu g of protein; and (2) a medicament comprising the phage mixture.
