Zusammenfassung:CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR REDUCING A VOLTAGE BEING DEVELOPED ACROSS A FIELD WINDING OF A SYNCHRONOUS MACHINE In an electrical power system (10) of a diesel powered system having at least one diesel-fueled power generation unit, the electrical power system (10) having a synchronous machine including a field winding (18) being coupled to the diesel-fueled power generation unit, a battery (17) for selectively providing a starting current (68) during a starting mode of the electrical power system (10), and an inverter (31) receiving the starting current (68) for driving the synchronous machine and generating an inverter current (70), a circuit and method for reducing a voltage being developed across the field winding (18) is described. The circuit includes a current conditioner for conditioning the inverter current (70) and a parallel circuit (72) interposed between the inverter (31) and the current conditioner comprising a first branch (74) including a resistance and a second branch (76) including the field winding (18) of the synchronous machine so that the parallel circuit (72) is isolated from a voltage developed across the current conditioner during cranking. co~ 0)" CnC (7I P Zdi cI CN - Or IdIO "-- 1 -I 0 0 I 4'; C); to ~ U- cn 0__ _ _ _ C'4 CD_ _ 00C NC14 I- (0 0 I I I I ____ ___ ___ 06)O 6'UM 11
