Zusammenfassung:	A batten (8) for a laser cutting machine table is made up of a box (9) containing a plurality of parallel juxtaposed shelves (10) of which the upper free ridges form the plane for laying out the product to be cut. The distance between two juxtaposed shelves is chosen according to the nature of the material to be cut. An Independent claim is also included for the shelves of the batten. In a preferred mode of realization, the batten (8) incorporates shelves in the shape of a thin sheet folded to form a chicane that allows the deviation of the laser beam, assuring in particular the opacity of the batten for the beam.
