Zusammenfassung:	A method and a device for measuring the dimensions, location, quality and/or other properties of paper, pulp, cardboard or plastic rolls and for marking them and/or for reading markings from rolls arranged in a row. Said operations may take place at the winder or at a distance from it, in which case the rolls are transferred to the measuring point by conveyors. For said operations, no separate working stations are needed. Connected to carriages (5) moving along guide rails (7) extending substantially in the rolling direction is a guide beam (23) parallel to the rolling axis of the roll set (1), guiding at least one trolley (24) comprising a vertical arm (25) . Attached to this arm is a data unit array, which may consist of a quality control unit (26), a measuring unit (27), a marking unit (28) and a reading unit (29).Fig. 2
