Epaulette

The invention provides an epaulette ( 2 ) for securing to a garment ( 1 ), which provides improved uniformity of appearance when worn by people with a range of shoulder widths and slopes. The epaulette ( 2 ) includes: a first part ( 10 ) securable to a garment ( 1 ) with a lower section of the first part in a first position at or adjacent to a shoulder area of the garment; and an elongate second part ( 20 ) securable to the garment at a second position thereon and that in use of the garment is laterally inward of said first position. The first and second parts ( 10 and 20 ) are joined by a hinge ( 15 ) that in use of the epaulette is laterally outward of the second position and above the first position on the garment. The epaulette preferably includes an elongate third part ( 30 ) secured to the first part ( 10 ) and secured to an underside of the second part ( 20 ) by attachment means ( 33, 26 ) at an attachment position on the second part that in use of the epaulette is laterally inward of the hinge ( 15 ).
