The gas channel is fixed on a membrane consisting of at least two layers. An Independent claim is also included for an alternative coke oven door. Preferred Features: The membrane comprises two sheets, especially four thin sheets. The sheets (3', 3'', 3''') have different thicknesses. At least one sheet is made of heat- and corrosion-resistant material, and at least one sheet is a spring.
