Mimosa tenuiflora bark contains a compound having regenerative properties which, after its extraction, takes the form of a bitter and odourless, reddish coffee-coloured powder, the structural analysis of which indicates a content of C from 54 to 57%, H from 4.5 to 5.4% and O from 36.5 to 37.5%. The production process consists essentially in extracting by means of solvents the active principle contained in Mimosa tenuiflora bark, which is ground beforehand. The solvents used are preferably chloroform, ethanol and water, the process being carried out at moderately high temperatures. The active principle thereby obtained is useful for the therapy of burns, scratches, grazes, cuts and eczema, minor injuries and surgical wounds, and it may be administered in solid or liquid form. These preferred forms are aqueous solutions of this active principle, as well as powders. The active principle is also useful in cosmetics.
