Zusammenfassung:The method involves receiving speech data (S) coded with a speech codec (C1) from a radio station (BTS) by a speech data coding device (V). The coding device receives signaling data (SIG) that is transferred between a radio control (BSC) and a radio station in a radio communication system. The coded speech data is trans-coded into a speech codec (C2) by the coding device. The speech data coded with the speech codec (C2) is transferred to a radio control via a radio interface, where the radio control is used for controlling transmission of the speech data. An independent claim is also included for a device for coding speech data in a radio access network of a radio communication system.
