Zusammenfassung:	The spot welder has two electrodes. An acoustic sensor in the first electrode emits a burst of acoustic energy which passes through the weld to be received by a sensor in the second electrode. The receiving sensor emits a signal, representative of the geometry of the weld nugget, to a computer. The electrode (10) comprises a shell (13) with an electrode cap (14) and lower (16) and upper (18) adapters. Coolant flows between internal (22) and outer (24) sleeves. The internal sleeve and the lower adapter support an ultrasonic probe (20). A structural support (23) comprises upper (32) and lower (34) ultrasonic probe holders.
