Zusammenfassung:	The valve for the shutting off or adjustment of the volume flow of a gaseous or liquid medium has a flap (2) which by means of a spindle (3) is pivotable between an open position and closed position. The flap in the closed position lies against a stop edge (8) on a throughflow component (1). The flap has a flexurally rigid element (7) and an elastic spring plate (4) which is preloaded and which in the closed position bears upon the stop edge with sealing action. The spring plate is on the upstream side and the flexurally rigid element is on the downstream side.
