Zusammenfassung:	In summary, a method and system for performing data transmission is described, wherein a data call is detected (51) and transmitted without using a modem function (54), in case digital connection of the transmission link can be established. A negotiation (52) is performed in order to check the possibility of digitally transferring the data (53). Thereby, the use of a modem function (55) can be restricted to those cases where digital connection cannot be established. Consequently, network processing power can be saved and transmission quality improved.
