In order to optimise the properties and simplify the production process of sheet-metal components, especially load-bearing motor vehicle components, the proposal is for the sheet-metal components to have a bearing and a functional section, in which the bearing section comprises a recess to accept a complementarily designed fitting section of the functional component, whereby the walls of the recess and the fitting section which are adjacent when assembled are substantially perpendicular to the surface of the bearing section surrounding the recess, while the dimensions of the recess and the fitting section are dimensioned in such a way that the functional section can be pressed permanently and seamlessly into the recess in the bearing section and the functional and bearing sections are laser or electron-beam welded in the region of their adjacent walls of the fitting section and recess.
