Zusammenfassung:	The production of mirrors whose optical properties entirely correspond to those of original mirrors originating from earlier centuries comprises successively applying to a sheet (1) of plate glass a layer system which comprises an optically ineffective first adhesive layer (2) of a metal and/or metal oxide which has high affinity to oxygen, then an optically effective reflection layer (3) of Sn or an Sn alloy, subsequently a protective layer (4) of Cu or a Cu alloy, and a further adhesive layer (5) of Ti or a Ti compound with oxygen, nitrogen or carbon, which are preferably sputtered on by means of a magnetron sputtering apparatus. This layer structure is subsequently coated with a protective lacquer (6).
