In order to provide an overhead projector whose basic body and lift-out tray are constructed capable of moving relative to one another for the purpose of optionally achieving a flat, space-saving configuration for transport purposes or an enlarged working position, a lever (7) in the region of the housing (1) is assigned at least one wheel (9) or wheel segment which is driven by its pivoting movement and transmits this movement in a self-closed and/or force-closed fashion and which is connected indirectly or directly to transmission elements (11) which convert the pivoting or rotary drive movement of the wheel (9) or of the wheel segment (9) into an essentially rectilinear relative movement between the lift-out tray (2) and basic body (3). This renders manipulation uncomplicated; canting or jamming are largely excluded during the relative movement. The outlay on production is reduced with respect to production time and production costs.
