Date Jul. 25, 1991.A method for the concentration and purification of biomolecules is described and comprises introducing the biomolecule into an aqueous/organic solvent system and bringing about a phase separation by addition of salts, where the pH at which the concentration takes place, the solvents suitable for the aqueous/organic solvent system, and the nature of the salt are determined in a series of tests one embodiment concerns concentration of hirudin by using propanol, butanol or acetone a the solvent and sodium chloride as the salt.
