VERFAHREN ZUR HERSTELLUNG VON TITANOXID

Process for the preparation of titanium oxide, of the type comprising the hydrolysis of a titanium compound (compound A) then the recovery of the titanium oxide formed, characterised in that, on the one hand, the said compound A is free from sulphur and in that, on the other hand, the said hydrolysis is performed in the presence of at least one compound B chosen from: (i) acids which contain: - either one carboxyl group and at least two hydroxyl and/or amine groups - or at least two carboxyl groups and at least one hydroxyl and/or amine group (ii) salts of the acids mentioned under (i). The titanium oxides thus obtained have the advantage of being free from sulphur and of being easily dispersible in aqueous media to give stable sols. They can be employed especially for the manufacture of electronic grade alkaline-earth metal titanates.
