A purpose-made slope block for building retaining walls or sound-insulating walls, slope revetments and the like with any inclination and possibly planted, with a single type of block, these blocks being able to be placed with gaps or adjoining and having parallel lateral faces (1, 2), a depression (3) at the top and a base adapted to the top of the block, characterised in that the depression (3) at the top is bounded at the front and back by a web (5, 6) directed obliquely upwards in each case, that the projecting portion of the off-set bottom surface (7) fits positively into the depression (3) at the top, that the rear recess in the bottom surface (7) is so constructed that it is supported positively on the rear web (6) of the block placed below in each case, and that the inclination of the front (8) of the block amounts to about 60 degrees and that of the back (9) of the block amounts to about 75 degrees to the horizontal.
