Zusammenfassung:	Reduction of the content of viral and molecular pathogens in a biological material containing one or more biological substances to be extracted comprises: (a) treating the biological material with an organic solvent; (b) contacting the solvent-treated biological material with an ion exchanger which adsorbs the pathogens but which does not react or reacts only to a slight extent with the biological substances to be extracted; and (c) separating the ion-exchanger carrying the adsorbed pathogens from the biological material.
