Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and device (26) for detecting the weight (g) of a wire supply (28) located in a supply unit (27), comprising an apparatus (29) for measuring the weight (g) of the supply unit (27) including the wire supply (28), an apparatus (30) connected to the measuring apparatus (29) for evaluating the measured values, and possibly an indicator (34) for indicating that a residual value of the weight of the wire supply has fallen below a specified residual value (gresidual) of the weight (g) of the wire supply (28). In order to indicate the remaining wire supply (28) in a supply unit (27) accurately and in a timely manner, the measuring apparatus (29) is designed to measure the weight (g) of the supply unit (27) together with the wire supply (28) below a threshold value (gs) of the weight (g) of the supply unit (27) including the wire supply (28), while the maximum measured value is indicated if the threshold value (gs) of the weight (g) is exceeded.
