Continuous casting installation - with a pivotable carrier arm for installation and removal of billet guide elements

The continuous casting installation incorporates a billet support and guide unit (2) made up of at least one guide element (3) which is provided with billet support rolls (10). By means of a positioning device this guide element is installable into and removable from the unit (2). The positioning device takes the form of a carrier arm (17) which is movable about a pivot axis (18) oriented approximately in the direction of the billet motion. In a continuous casting plant with a strand guiding device 2 which supports the strand and has at least one guide element 3 provided with supporting elements 10 that contact the surface of the strand, the guide element 3 can be moved into and out of the strand guiding device 2 by means of an actuating device. To allow a guide element 3 to be installed and removed or changed simply and quickly, the guide element 3 can be moved out of the strand guiding device 2 and back into it by means of a supporting arm 17 that can be pivoted about a pivot 18, the pivot 18 extending approximately in the direction of motion of the strand, which is determined by the guide element 3.
