Zusammenfassung: | The present invention relates to a novel esterase which has been made available by genetic engineering strategies. The esterase described in this invention is active on a number of carboxylic esters including triglycerides, fatty acid nitrophenyl esters and various esters with secondary alcohols. It is possible by cloning the corresponding gene from the bacterium Pseudomonas marginata, strain ATCC 10248, and overexpression of the gene in microorganisms to produce active enzyme preparations. Such enzyme preparations can preferably be used in organic synthesis for ester cleavages and transesterifications, it being possible where appropriate to achieve enantioselectivity in the conversions. |
