Between the two chambers there is a sepn. wall (2) which has an opening to allow throughflow (10). Within the sludge collection chamber is a sludge filter (11) which has a flow cross-section which is at least that of (10). The opening has a flow cross section (A) which is described by the formula (I) where D = amt. of throughflow in l/s; A is measured in dm2; K has dimensions dms-1.s.
