Zusammenfassung:	The invention concerns the use of hydroxyl-containing acrylate copolymers as additives for aqueous cationic coating systems for preventing surface flaws without impairing the adhesion of subsequent layers, in particular of PVC-containing coating materials. The acrylate copolymers contain not only acid-neutralisable amino groups but also a selected amount of hydroxyl groups derived from monoesters of (meth)acrylic acid with diols. The additives are used in an amount of from 0.5 to 5.0% by weight, calculated on solids and based on the solids content of the binder in the coating composition.
