Zusammenfassung: | Lining uses groups of bricks in parallel rows, where the rows of adjacent gps. meet horizontally at right angles. The end bricks in each row meet rectangular prism bricks supporting the bricks forming the side walls of the furnace. Wedge-shaped bricks, and possibly rectangular bricks are used in each row, so that all the standardised end bricks have the same inclined angle where they meet the prism bricks. Instead of the rectangular prism bricks, ashlar with one inclined surface may be used in either case, these bricks can be assembled from smaller bricks with an identical shape to avoid using bricks with a large wt. Standard bricks, with a min. number of different types can be used for the hearth with the min. amt. of hand shaping, and the elimination of dangerous joints between the hearth and the side walls. |
