Zusammenfassung:1,132,507. Respiratory apparatus. CHIRANA ZAVODY ZDRAVOTNICKEJ TECHNIKY, ODBOROVY PODNIK. 6 Oct., 1966 [8 Oct., 1965], No. 44631/66. Heading AST. [Also in Division G3] Respiratory apparatus for use in aiding breathing comprises a casing having an inlet tube 16 for the supply of breathing medium (e.g. oxygen or air) under pressure, an outlet tube 7 for connection with a breathing mask, a flat nozzle 1 connected to the inlet tube, a first aerodynamic profile 3 composed of a front part 2 and a rear part 4, a second aerodynamic profile 8, 9, a wedge part 5 separating an inspiration and expiration channel 6 from an exhaust channel 10 communicating with atmosphere, and a back-coupling passage 12. The casing may also include openings 13, 17 to atmosphere, may be of a synthetic material, and may be provided with adjustable resistance members 14, 15 in the passage 12 and opening 13. In use, the breathing gas passes from the inlet tube 16 and follows the aerodynamic profile 2, 4 so that it passes to the patient via the outlet tube 7. When the patient exhales, or when gas pressure in the breathing mask rises, pressure is communicated via the passage 12 to the aerodynamic profile 2, 4 and the gas leaves this profile and is directed into the exhaust channel 10. When the patient inhales, negative pressure in the channel 6 and atmospheric pressure at the openings 11 cause the gas to flow once again along the profile 2, 4.
