دراسة في التحصين القروي و فن بناء القلاع في قرى جنوب بابل

Fortification of building is very common in cities and towns of Iraq, both in the past and the present because it is vital for security of a house or a village. In fact, fortification of building in the Mesopotamia has been developed with time and there are many changes and modifications were founded. This paper focuses on history, types, importance, structures of fortificationof building in several villages of southern Babylon, Iraq during the nineteenth century. Field survey has been carried out including personal interview with several aged people from these villages and visiting several heritages forts to take several measurements. As a result, this study reviled that the main building materials of forts are clay and wood .Dimensions, size and structures of these forts are depending on several factorsincluding whetherit belong single house or group of houses,importance of building and grade of risk.
