Effect of gamma radiation on optical properties of ZnO thin film

Zusammenfassung: | Gamma radiation induced changes in the optical properties of zinc-oxide thin films, prepared by sol-gel using spin coating technique, have been studied in detail. The thickness of the prepared film is around 100 nm. Thin films of ZnO were exposed to 137Cs gamma radiation source at dose rate of 0.5 Gy/min at room temperature .Absorption spectra for ZnO films were recorded and values of optical characterization of the as-deposited thin films and gamma radiated samples were calculated. It was found that the optical band values were decreased as the radiation dose was increased . The observed changes in the optical properties suggest that ZnO thin film may be considered as an effective material for room temperature real time Gamma-radiation dosimetry. |
