Zusammenfassung: | In February 2009, clinical signs of foot and mouth disease (FMD) observed among animals of a dairy farm at Sharqiua Governorate. The virus isolates was identified as serotype A, using double sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Phylogenetic analysis of 1D nucleotide sequences carried out by the World Reference Laboratory (WRL) for Foot and Mouth Disease in Pirbright UK revealed that A / 2009 virus was a close relationship to A virus isolated from
Ken / 2008 whereas, it was slight differ from A / 1 / Egypt / 2006. A two-dimensional serum micro-neutralization test was used to compare type A FMDV isolate to the current used A / 1 / Egypt / 2006 vaccine strain. Antigenic relationship “r” between the isolated serotype A FMD virus and the vaccine strain was sufficiently high (0.83) to use vaccine prepared from A / 1 / Egypt / 2006 to control the virus of this outbreak.
The results were discussed concerning the possible epizootiological role of type A FMD virus in farms applying routine vaccination and continuous risk of exposure to external sources of infection. |
