Al-Fakher's book is one of the books on which grammatical criticism dominated, as the grammatical material was characterized by the richness of critical judgments, its depth and breadth, in addition to the fact that the thought of Al-Baali was distinguished by the scientific inventory, the cognitive capacity, the stubborn mind and the unequivocal opinion in not hesitating to criticize an opinion if the need arises. these features appeared in his use of words and phrases during criticism of the opinions of his predecessors, revealing the strength of his scientific personality, which had the effect of giving privacy to his critical and grammatical thought. يعد كتاب الفاخر من الكتب التي هيمن النقد النحوي عليها، فقد امتازت فيه المادة النحوية بثراء الأحكام النقدية، و عمقها و اتساعها فضلا عن أن فكر البعلي انماز بالمخزون العلمي، و السعة المعرفية و الذهن الوقاد و الرأي القاطع في عدم تردده في نقد رأي إذا مادعت الحاجة إلى ذلك. و قد ظهرت هذه السمات في استعماله لألفاظ و عبارات في أثناء نقد لآراء من سبقه من العلماء، تكشف عن قوة شخصيته العلمية مما كان له أثر في إعطاء خصوصية لفكره النقدي النحوي.
