The Abbasid revocation was accompanied with utmost cruelty
toward opposition throughout the reign of the first Caliph Abu -AI Abbas
(132-136 A .H/749-753 A.D), which was not totally different in t^e reign
of Abu --Ja’far Al -Mansoor who followed a policy somewhat different

who claimed the throne of the Caliphate or opposed it,while at other
times, he showed leniency in accordance with the general interst of the
state.
