Synthesis, structure and electrochemistry of Co IILCl 2·0.5MeCN {L = [2-(methylthio)-3-phenyl-5-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)-3,5-dihydro-4 H-imidazol-4-one]}

The reaction of 2-(methylthio)-3-phenyl-5-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)-3,5-dihydro-4 H-imidazol-4-one (L) with CoCl 2·6H 2O in MeCN CH 2Cl 2 results in formation of the complex CoLCl 2·0.5MeCN, which was characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and an electrochemical study.
