Zusammenfassung:A spatial light modulator is optically addressable by exposure of a vitreous selenium layer to illumination of a write beam through a transparent electrode film, thereby establishing an electrically conductive path from a voltage source to a ferroelectric liquid crystal layer in contact with conductive reflector elements arranged in a pixel pattern. Changes in polarization of the ferroelectric layer are detected by means of a read beam transmitted therethrough to the reflector elements for reflection and exit from another transparent electrode film through which the read beam is applied.
