Zusammenfassung: | Results of a 42-month search for heat resistant metals for gas turbine blades which ended in the development of a new series of alloys of which the principal element of the series is chromium. The chromium rich portions of thirteen binary and nine ternary systems of chromium have been surveyed. Methods of melting, purifying, casting, and machining the alloys have been devised. Stress-rupture properties of certain of the chromium-based alloys are superior to those of all other materials known to have been tested. |
