Zusammenfassung: | Improved drainage is needed over a large part of the watershed, The flat topography pockets water and the solid become waterlogged creating acute problems to the urban developments. The present Sawmill Branch channel is not deep enough to provide adequate internal drainage. Flood water from the tributaries backs up existing drainage ditches reducing their efficiency. The proposed plan of improvement provides for channel enlargement from the outlet end at the Ashley River to Highway 17A. The enlarged channel will have a total length of approximately 9.7 miles with bottom widths varying from 60 feet to 18 feet. A cleared right-of-way will be required varying from 120 feet in the lower reach to 60 feet in the upper reach. Culverts and bridges will be modified or reconstructed to provide sufficient capacity for proper functioning of the designed channel. |
