Zusammenfassung: | The U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MARAD),in cooperation with Elmendorf Air Force Base (EAFB) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), proposes to remove approximately 9.8 million bank cubic yards of material from the North End Borrow Site and improve a roadway between the borrow site and the Port of Anchorage (POA or Port) for truck transport. The 255-acre proposed North End Borrow Site, which includes several borrow pits historically and currently used by EAFB, is located 4.75 miles northeast of the POA and immediately north of the EAFB North/South Runway. The purpose of the action is to meet a portion of the fill requirements for the planned 135-acre expansion of the Port, known as the Marine Terminal Redevelopment (MTR). |
