Zusammenfassung:Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, as amended. This EA assesses the potential environmental impacts of implementing antiterrorism/force protection measures at the three entrance gates at Peterson Air Force Base and upgrading select roads for more efficient traffic flow. The Proposed Action would have short-term, but not significant, impacts on air quality from construction. The Action would confirm to the State Implementation Plan and is exempt from further conformity review. Impacts to geological resources would result from ground disturbance during construction, impacts would not be significant. Short-term impacts to surface water from erosion or storm water runoff would not be significant. No critical habitat, threatened or endangered species, or wetlands would be impacted as a result of the Action. There are no known cultural resources in the areas proposed for construction. The four acres to be acquired by the West Gate would be surveyed prior to construction. Construction equipment and associated traffic would generate short-term increases in noise during normal working hours. Noise increases would be below significance thresholds. No significant impacts to environmental justice were identified. Traffic flow at the West and North Gates and on Stewart Avenue would improve as a result of the Proposed Actions. In addition to the Proposed Action, alternatives were analyzed in the EA for the West Gate, Northeast Gate, and the No Action Alternative.
