Zusammenfassung:A summary is presented o research performed on the DoD Idea Award to investigate mixed-lineage kinase 3 in breast cancer invasion and metastasis. Three aims were pursued. The first aim was to determine the signaling basis of the novel migratory role of MLK3 in breast cancer cells. The second was to determine whether the impact of MLK3 on migration and invasive phenotype extends to a broad range of human brest cancer cell lines. The third aim was to evaluate MLK3 as a potential therapeutic target for metastatic breast cancer using in vivo models. The long-term goal of these studies was to provide a foundation for determining whether MLK3 is a viable therapeutic target for invasive/metastatic breast cancer and to rigorously determine the signaling pathways through which MLS3 operates in breast cancer cells.
