Zusammenfassung: | The objective of this effort was to determine the ability to save fuel used for generating electricity in an austere location for a military deployment application. The contractor performed testing of four different systems with two different loading scenarios. The loading scenarios were based off a repeatable block program to allow direct comparison of different systems. The results showed that the system with both energy storage and solar energy saved approximately 43% of the fuel consumed by the baseline system, while just adding energy storage showed 23% savings. The test also revealed that almost no savings were achieved by adding solar power without energy storage. Comparing the baseline system at the two loads indicated that a 32% reduction in energy demand resulted in only 12% reduction in fuel consumption by generators. |
