Zusammenfassung:For decades anesthesiologists have sought an agent that would provide local anesthesia lasting for days rather than hours. The ideal ultra-long duration local anesthetic agent would affect sensory but not motor fibers, be free of local irritant effects, have a high therapeutic index, and provide analgesia for several days. No agent currently exists that meets all these criteria. Lecfthin coated microcrystal technology shows promise in improving the delivery of local anesthetics and analgesics. In this study three different agents were developed and tested in animal models to establish possible clinical efficacy.
