Zusammenfassung:Silage is an applicative behavioural specification language especially suited for DSP applications. It originated at Berkeley, but the versions being considered in this document come from Philips (Eindhoven) and IMEC. There are significant differences between the Philips and IMEC versions. Both versions of Silage are used as input languages suites of silicon compilers. The ELLA system is an integrated hardware design tool-set, which comprises the ELLA language compiler, the ELLA Applications Support Environment (EASE), the ELLA simulator, and the ELLANET procedural interface. The ELLA language can be used to describe hardware at all stages in the VLSI design cycle, from the earliest architectural concepts to the full implementation at gate level. The ELLA system was originally developed at the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment in Malvern, UK. and is now being enhanced in collaboration with Praxis Electronic Design of Bath. ELLA is now the de-facto standard high-level VLSI design language in the UK. The language constructs described in this document are available in ELLA Version 4. Great Britain. (R.H.)
