Zusammenfassung:The kinetics of jet fuel (JP-4) dispersion on water is investigated in laboratory wind tunnels. Evaporation and dissolution rates of various hydrocarbons are determined under varying parameters including air and water temperature, windspeed, humidity, water composition, fuel composition, and fuel layer depth. Adequate correlations can be made for the kinetics of evaporation of JP-4. While dissolution rates of aromatic components of JP-4 into water could be measured, correlations of the results are difficult because of the complex nature of hydrodynamic effects.
