Zusammenfassung: | Several variations of head-up display symbologies were evaluated in a fixed base simulator to study their effect on unusual attitude recovery using head-up display data alone. The results indicate that pitch scale compression, additional bank information, and slanted pitch ladder lines enhance recoveries from unusual attitudes. Automatic deletion of the velocity vector symbol at high angles-of-attack also enhances recovery. Recommendations for future head-up display symbologies are made.
