Zusammenfassung: | Volumes II and III together give an overview of the state of the art in computing complex turbulent flows in 1981 using the data base established for this purpose in Volume I. The materials are intended to be complete in the sense of providing all elements necessary for understanding the state of the art. Thus, Volumes II and III include: (1) Taxonomies that organize the flows, methods of modeling, numerics; (2) Comments by non-computers (the reporters) on results for each class of flows; (3) Discussions carried through to closure; and carefully edited (see Discussion Procedures in Volume I); (4) Samples of recent high-level research computations that are currently beginning to provide information of aid to turbulence modelers; (5) An overall evaluation of the state of the art; (6) An opinion on the question of universality of turbulence models; (7) All computer output compared with data, case by case; and (8) Comments by the computer groups on experience and problems.
