Zusammenfassung: | The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 was promulgated to regulate the generation, transportation, storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous wastes. Simultaneous to the passage of RCRA, the Department of Defense devised a Comprehensive Installation Restoration Program to identify, report, and correct potential environmental deficiencies that could result in groundwater contamination and probable migration of contaminants beyond DOD installation boundaries. Engineering - Science was retained by the Air Force Engineering and Services Center on 15 July 1981 to conduct a records search for Wright-Patterson AFB, the first phase of the Installation Restoration Program. The on-site portion of the records search as performed at Wright-Patterson AFB on 29 and 30 September and 19 through 23 October 1981. During this period, formal interviews were conducted with base personnel familiar with past waste disposal practices and file searches were performed for identified facilities which have generated, handled, transported, or disposed of waste materials. This study contains a summary of Engineering - Science's findings and a rating of potential contamination for each suspected contaminated site.
